A Place Alone with the Lord I Daily Walk Devotion

There are a few places where I meet with God. The first is on my couch early in the morning before anyone wakes up. The second place is in my car driving to work. The third place is out on my bike in the hills near where I live. Each of these places allow me some alone time with the Lord. Here I can pray and most importantly listen. Do you have a place to get alone with Jesus?

‭‭EXODUS‬ ‭33:8-9

“And it came about, whenever Moses went out to the tent, that all the people would arise and stand, each at the entrance of his tent, and gaze after Moses until he entered the tent. Whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent; and the LORD would speak with Moses.”

Unique Encounters

Moses had some unique encounters with the Lord. He went up on Mount Sinai and conversed with Him and came down with his face glowing from the glory of the Lord. He saw the backside of God as He passed by Moses. When Moses went into the tent of meeting God would descend and meet him there. Moses dwelled in the presence of God. The Israelites knew this so when he headed to the tent of meeting they would stand at the entrance of their and gaze at him until he entered. He was their representative before the Lord.

Desire to be in the Presence

Each believer should desire to be in the presence of the Lord like Moses was. You don’t need a priest to enter a holy place and represent you, you can go on your own. Sadly, many Christians abdicate their place to their pastor or some other mature saint instead of going to God themselves. When Jesus died on the cross the curtain around the tabernacle was torn and you can go boldly to the throne of God. Don’t wait on someone else. Seek the Lord and you will find Him.

A Place to Get Alone with Jesus

When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, he told them to go to their prayer closet and get alone with God. Do you have a place, a tent of meeting, where you can meet with God? John Wesley’s mom used to throw her apron over her head in the middle of the kitchen to let her eleven children know that she was spending time with the Lord. Find a place to get alone with Jesus?
