Deserving of Our Praise I Daily Walk Devotion

Deserving of Our Praise

The Lord is deserving of our praise and glory. To worship means to “give worth.” We give Jesus “worth” when we worship Him. We can’t worship two things at once. Either we love one and hate the other, or we hate one and love the other. God won’t compete with anyone for our attention and affection. He deserves and demands all the glory.

Isaiah 42:8

I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

A New Work

The prophecies that Isaiah writes in the second section of his book are some of the most profound in all of scripture. He has spent the first half of the book talking about the coming judgment now he is talking about the new work that God will do in his people with the most powerful being the arrival of his only son, Jesus. Here we see that the old things will pass away and a new work will be done. No longer will idols be worshipped but the true God is deserving of our praise.

Multiple Avenues of Praise

We give him glory by being sons and daughters of the light. This comes from our obedience to His Word. When we are praying, part of that time should be praising the Lord. Jesus taught the disciples how to pray by starting with adoration: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” We can also glorify the Lord by how we talk about Him to others. Give Him credit for what He has done, don’t take credit for it. 1 Thess 5:17 says “Pray without ceasing and rejoice always.” He is deserving of our praise.
