God's Forever Home I Daily Walk Devotion

My wife and I are big fans of home improvement shows. We love seeing houses that are complete wrecks transformed into beautiful places. We watch them because we are looking for a home that we can do the same, our forever home. God’s forever home is Jerusalem. He has chosen it as His resting place forever.

‭‭PSALMS‬ ‭132:13-14

“For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation. “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.”

Point of Contention

There is no more controversial city in the world than Jerusalem. The Muslims are fighting with the Jews over who has the right to call it home. They have fought over it, and as I write, they have recently declared a cease-fire after firing bombs at each other. This is more than territorial, though. It is ground zero for the spiritual battle. Satan knows this is where Jesus is going to return. It is where the Anti-Christ will commit the abomination of desolation. To say that this city is a lightning rod is the understatement of all time.

Ordained Long Ago

Over four thousand years ago, God spoke through the writer of Psalm 132 to proclaim that Zion, another name for Jerusalem, would be His forever home. Because God spoke it, not only is it going to come true, but as disciples of Jesus, we have to believe it and stand behind Israel. I know people fall on both sides, but there can’t be any debate about what God’s Word says.

God’s Forever Home

One day we will be in Jerusalem with Jesus during His thousand-year reign. He will rule in such a way that people will come from all over to witness it. There will be peace, and the god of this world will be subdued. This is God’s desire.
