Put On the Right Heart I Daily Walk Devotion

There are very few things you can choose in life. You don’t choose where you are born or who you are born too. You often have little choice in what the government does. What we can choose is how we react to what happens to us. They say life is ten percent of what happens to you and ninety percent of how you react. Attitude starts in the heart. Today the Apostle Paul tells us to put on the right heart.

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12‬

“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;”

Guard Your Heart

It is vital to guard your heart against those things that can hurt it, but it is equally essential that you choose to put it into your heart that you want to come out. Paul tells the Colossians to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We have a choice in the matter. While many of these are the fruit of the Spirit, we can still choose to exhibit them in our daily walk. If our churches were filled with more people like this, we would be an irresistible magnet.

Moved with Compassion

Compassion is becoming in short supply today. Genuinely caring for other people like Jesus did means that we do it with no agenda other than the love of God pouring out of us. When Jesus saw that the crowds were like sheep without a shepherd, his heart was moved with compassion. When we see lost and hurting people, our hearts shouldn’t be moved towards judgment but tenderness. It is said you don’t truly know a person until you walk a mile in their shoes. Compassion is trying to understand that and act to improve it.

Put On the Right Heart

As we show compassion, we need to ensure that it is done with kindness, humility, and patience. When we are kind, we show the other person we care, doing it in humility shows that we are not looking down on them, and being patient shows that we understand it takes a while to get back on our feet. Put on the right heart as you go out into the world. It will impact others in ways you won’t know till you get to heaven.
