Nothing is more irritating than someone who grumbles and complains all of the time. These people suck the energy out of a room and leave others feeling depressed. Dealing with grumblers can be difficult. Nothing will make them happy no matter what you do. Moses teaches us an important lesson on how to deal with them.
Numbers 17:5, 8
The staff of the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of the Israelites’ complaints that they have been making about you. The next day Moses entered the tent of the testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, representing the house of Levi, had sprouted, formed buds, blossomed, and produced almonds!”
Constant Drip
One thing you will never be able to eradicate from the church is complainers. These are the ones who talk with other people in the church to express their dissatisfaction with the leadership. They have often blown situations out of proportion and rely more on speculation than facts. These people are never happy and trying to do so will only end up frustrating you.
Stand Firm
Moses faced many challenges leading the Israelites to the promised land. There were as many internal problems as external. His leadership was challenged several times, even by his sister. This time a man by the name of Korah lead a revolt against Moses and Aaron. God separated Moses and Aaron and was going to wipe out Israel, but Moses fell on his face and begged God not to do it. Instead, God uses a unique way to put the challengers to shame here. He gathers a staff from every tribe and made Aaron’s to sprout to show his favor.
Don’t Lose Heart
When God chooses you to lead there will be people who will challenge you. Stand firm in your calling and continue the work you were called to do. If you were called God will confirm that time and time again. Don’t lose heart by watching what people do to challenge you, keep your mind on things above. Stay humble and let God do his work.
