In many areas of the world, people live in the dump. Makeshift cities arise out of the trash heaps, and whole families live in poverty. They rummage through the piles of rubbish looking for anything that their families can live off. Fortunately, many ministries have been formed to minister to these families. In Mexico, they build houses in India; they have rescue missions. They are the living hands and feet of Jesus, and they raise the poor and needy up from the ashes.
Psalms 113:7-8
“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the trash heap in order to seat them with nobles — with the nobles of his people.”
Poor & Needy
There are so many needy people in this world. It really makes you think about the many blessings that God has given you. God has a heart to raise up the poor and lift up the needy. He doesn’t look at them as lesser people but instead elevates them to the status of the noble.
Don’t Turn a Blind Eye
What part are you playing lift up the needy? Do you turn a blind eye to those who ask for any help outside of your grocery store? Are you like the Pharisee when he sees a person in need and walks on the other side of the road. The good Samaritan gives us a great example of how to minister to people. He took the needy man and cared for his needs.
Up From the Ashes
Maybe you aren’t physically or financially needy today but your life is down in the dirt, and your life has come to resemble a trash heap. Take heart because Jesus is here to raise you up from the ashes. His grace and mercy can pick you up and sit you with the nobles. Simply come to him and ask him to rescue you.
