Carry Your Own Load

Having worked in the church for twenty-five years, I’ve seen a lot of scams that they to prey upon the benevolence of the church. It is difficult to discern who is legit and who is trying to get something for free. In the end, we leave it up to God. As a believer, you are to carry your own load. Be diligent in your work and provide for those under roof and trust the Lord for the rest.

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:4-5‬

“Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else. For each person will have to carry his own load.”

Relying on Charity

There seemed to be some people in the church of Galatia who wanted to coast and rely on the charity of others in the church. They thought the rapture was coming, so it wasn’t worth building a career or keeping employment. That sad part of it was that these guys had families who were suffering because of this laziness. Paul is having none of it in the church. From a guy who traveled the whole Mediterranean preaching the Gospel while supporting himself making tents, there was no excuse.

We need to examine our own work. That means we need to make sure that the work we are doing is exemplary. Shoddy work that is halfway done is not only a reflection of you but of Jesus Christ as well. We need to do the best job we can. Don’t try to rationalize what you are doing by comparing to someone else. Do work that will set you apart from the pack.
