Anytime we start something new; there is an excitement in the air. This week was the first day back at school for one of my children, and there was energy in the air as we got all the school supplies ready, took first-day pictures, and walked her to class. She was eager to reconnect with her classmates after the summer break and start with her new teacher. The last few weeks of summer had dragged on, but it is time for something new.
Isaiah 43:19
Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
A Fresh Start
God promised Israel that He was going to do something new when they returned from exile. It would be a fresh start from their time in bondage and the sins of their past. Israel would rebuild, and it would be around the promised coming of the Messiah who would reunite His people with the Lord. Even though Isaiah was writing this before they were sent into captivity, he was asking them if they could feel the breezes of change coming.
Return to First Love
Is God doing a new work in your life? Is it time for something new? Does your heart feel like a barren desert? God wants to do something new. He wants to return you to your first love and return the joy of your salvation. For that to happen, there needs to be repentance on your part. Get right with the Lord by confessing your sins and turning away from them.
Time for Something New
It’s time for something new. Can you sense it? Do you see it coming? It’s time to see Jesus do a new work in your heart and your life. Let the river of life flow through the barren parts of your heart and restore what was once there. Jesus can make a way so that new life can flow once again. Trust Him as He works in your life. It may not seem apparent right now, but it soon will.
