God knows exactly what our life is going to be like before we are born. He knows where we are going to live and what role He has for us. We know this because this is what God told the prophet, Jeremiah. Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I appointed you to be a prophet. Trust the path God has you on. He can use you in the most unique ways.
Jeremiah 1:5
“I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Called by God
Jeremiah was destined to be a prophet before he was formed in his mother’s womb. He was set apart by God to do His bidding. That sounds exciting, but Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. He was called to be the last voice of God before Israel headed into captivity. Most of what God told him to tell the leaders of the nation was not pleasant, and they punished him for it. He was put in an empty water cistern, and he sunk to his knees in the miry clay. His friends had to provide food for him by lowering in down on a rope. Even though Jeremiah had the calling of God on his life didn’t mean it was easy, yet God always took care of him.
Uniquely Created
You may not like the hand of cards that God has dealt with you. You may be pining for greener pastures where life appears it would be more comfortable. By doing that, you made it more difficult for God to use you in the situation you are in right now. Don’t despise your current surroundings. You are uniquely created to minister to the people you are currently around. Embrace where God has you and let His light shine through you in the best possible way.
Before I Formed You
We put too much emphasis on our success here on earth and forget where it most matters. Jeremiah would be considered a failure by most. He didn’t get through to his audience, and they heckled and berated him every chance they got. In God’s eyes, he accomplished exactly what he was sent to do. He spoke everything God told him to and stood in the face of persecution for truth. Approval by God was much more important than applause from others.
