When a man and woman say their vows to one another, there shouldn’t be any thought of fear in the back of their heads. There should be complete trust and vulnerability that only grows during their marriage. Sadly, that is not the case, and many wives live in fear of their husband’s temper. Perfect love drives out fear. The only one who can love perfectly is Jesus Christ. When we put our trust in Him, we are filled with His love, and that has the power to cast out any fear we have.
1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.”
Gripped with Fear
Many people are gripped with fear every day. It manifests itself in all different types of ways, but the end result is almost always the same. Most people are immobilized with what could happen to them. This prohibits them from living the life that God has planned for them. The Apostle John tells us that there is no fear in love because God’s perfect love drives out fear in us.
Full of Grace and Mercy
Most people’s fear stems from what could happen. This could be based on previous embarrassing experiences or emotional scars. Some suffer from the fear of punishment. They fear that if they do something wrong that God is going to judge them and life will get really bad. That is is the furthest thing from the truth. God isn’t sitting in heaven waiting for you to do something wrong so He can get you. His love is full of grace and mercy, and He wants nothing but the best for you.
Perfect Love Drives Out Fear
Maybe you are full of fear because you don’t realize how much God loves you. You’ve heard of the religious sayings, but it has never become personal for you. Don’t doubt Jesus’ love for you. Romans 5:5 tells us that the Holy Spirit pours the love of God into our hearts. The more love we allow, the more fear is driven out. Let the Holy Spirit flood your heart with the overflowing love of Jesus Christ.
