One of the most frustrating things that can happen in your day is when you get locked out. Maybe you locked your keys in your car, or the locked door of your home shuts behind you, or the store you desperately need to get something from is closed. Whatever it may be, you feel helpless when you can’t get into where you need to be. Ministry can feel the same way. Nothing seems to be working, then all of a sudden, there is an open door no one can shut. At that moment, you know God is on your side.
Revelation 3:8
“I know your works. Look, I have placed before you an open door that no one can close because you have but little power; yet you have kept my Word and have not denied my name.”
Tireless Workers
The people in the church of Philadephia were tireless workers for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a difficult place to minister because there was a “synagogue of Satan” full of people who said they were godly but were attacking the Christians. God saw the faithful’s work, and He was going to open a door that no one can shut. They were weary from the work and the attacks from those who opposed the. God’s message? Stay faithful to the Word and hold on. For those who do, He will keep them during the hour of trial and will make them a pillar in His temple.
Remain Faithful
The work of the Gospel is hard, tiring work. You get very little praise, and you won’t see your reward until you are in heaven. If we make it about getting applause or approval from others, we will end up frustrated and want to quit. Always keep in the back of your mind that God sees your efforts, and He knows your energy levels. He is working behind the scenes to strengthen you. Remain faithful to His Word, and don’t give up.
An Open Door No One Can Shut
God can open doors no one can shut. In situations that seem hopeless, He can make a way. The enemy can throw everything out you, but it won’t touch what God is doing. Our job is to walk through the doors He opens and give Him credit for doing it. You may feel like things are never going to change right now, but hold on, God is going to open that door. When He does, don’t hesitate, go.
