As I write this, the seasons have turned from winter to spring. There is so much spiritual significance to the change of these two seasons. Winter represents death, while spring represents new life. Even though there is a severe drought where I live, there are signs of new life springing up. Trees are starting to sprout, and the grass is pushing through the soil. Nature is starting to grow and flourish. Did you know that there is a way that you can grow and flourish?
PSALMS 92:12-13
“The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God.”
Desire Righteousness
What is going to make your life grow and flourish? The Psalmist shows us two things, righteousness, and roots. The person who does the right thing will flourish, and those who plant themselves in the presence of the Spirit will grow. Righteousness is evident by the obedience in your life, while deep roots are manifested by maturity. God wants you to desire righteousness and His presence in your heart. You will be like a plan tree and mighty cedar if these are present.
Refuse to Admit
Some people ask why they are not growing but turn a blind eye to the sins in their hearts. The Holy Spirit has been nudging them to confess, but their pride refuses to admit they are wrong. A long pattern of this will lead you away from the Lord, and one day you will wake up and wonder why you feel lost, and God seems so distant. Turn your heart back to the Lord and seek His forgiveness.
Grow and Flourish
The path to growing and flourishing is a long consistent journey in the same direction. It will not happen overnight, and there will be many potholes along the way, but stay on the straight and narrow. God needs you to be cedar in the land of Lebanon. Those who are lost and without Jesus are looking for people to show them the way. Do the right thing and plant yourself in the Word of God.
