Path of Opportunity I Daily Walk Devotion

Man’s Creation, God’s Purposes

Are you walking down the path of opportunity? God presents us with many opportunities as we walk with him. The Romans constructed roads all throughout the Roman Empire. These roads made travel much more efficient between cities. It also helped the Roman armies mobilize much quicker. Paul used these frequently in his journeys.  These roads were so well built you can visit a remnant of this road in Turkey today. God likes to use man’s creation for His purposes. What the Romans constructed for their armies, God used to spread the Gospel. For these men, it was the path of opportunity. Are you open to walking the path God has set before you?

Acts 19:1-2

And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Be Open

Always be open to how God will use you to share the good news. It may be through an unlikely channel you didn’t expect. He may use something man created for His glory. Take that as a path of opportunity. As Paul traveled the road, he came upon some men who were saved but had never been baptized in the Holy Spirit. They knew of water baptism but not the overflowing power of the Holy Spirit. When Paul came upon these men, he took the opportunity, and their lives were changed from that point forward.

Walking in the Spirit

Many know salvation but not the power of the Holy Spirit. We are filled with the Spirit when we are saved, but there is also the baptism of the Spirit, that overflowing power that energizes our walk with Jesus. Paul knew it was necessary for these men and that it was separate from salvation. Don’t go through life powerless. Seek the overflowing filling of the Holy Spirit. Watch him open our spiritual eyes and enlarge our heart to the work of the Lord. Begin your walk on that path and see what opportunities God opens up.
