Israel sought the Messiah during Jesus’ time. They were looking for the savior who was going to come and defeat the Romans and restore the throne of David. This is part of the reason they refused to recognize Jesus. While they were looking for a king, he came as a servant. They wanted someone to save them from the tyrannical rule, but he came to save them from their sins. Do you acknowledge Christ?
Mark 14:61-62
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
Seated at the Right Hand of God
Jesus endured the grilling and abuse of the religious leaders of Israel for hours on what we know as Good Friday. From the time he was taken in the Garden of Gethsemane till he began to carry the cross he was answering questions from the powers that be. His response to the Chief Priest is most telling: “I am.” This is what God said Moses at the Burning bush. In Hebrew “I AM” means Yahweh or Jehovah. It was the name used for God. Jesus backed that up by saying “you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power” which meant he was going to be in a place of authority.
Stand for Truth
Do you believe that Jesus is the great “I AM?” Is he LORD of your life? The religious leaders refused to acknowledge that Jesus was the Messiah. We can be guilty of refusing to acknowledge Jesus as our LORD as well when we don’t stand for truth or obey His Word. Jesus was given the power and authority over everything when he conquered death. As his follower, we need to recognize that.
Do it Now or Later
One day Jesus will return on the clouds to gather up his people. Then Philippians 2:10 will be fulfilled which says “at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is LORD.” No one will have a choice to acknowledge him then, but we do now. Is Jesus LORD of your life? Do you acknowledge him with how you live and speak?
