Strength in Weakness I Daily Walk Devotion

Everyone wants to be strong. Whether it be physically or emotionally, we want to have what it takes to succeed, and nothing shouts success more than being strong. For the Christian, we find our strength in weakness. Say what? True strength is not found in us but through Christ and it works best in the areas where we are the weakest.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.

His Grace is Sufficient

It takes suffering to show us the power of grace. Paul knew this better than anyone else. He was not only persecuted during his missionary travels but also suffered a debilitating ailment that made him rely on Christ more than he would’ve liked. He prayed for the “thorn” to go away, but God showed him His grace is sufficient. Do you know the depths of God’s grace? Paul learned it in his weaknesses.

See Jesus in the Struggle

No one likes to talk about their weaknesses. We want to focus on our strengths and make excuses for our shortcomings. Society tells us that weakness is something to be ignored and those who admit them are inferior. In reality, we all have them, and for the Christian, we need to see Jesus in the areas where we struggle the most. It is there where we will see his power at the strongest. The problem is that we don’t like to admit we have them and that is a difficult hurdle to overcome.

Boast in Your Weakness

Paul decided to boast about his weaknesses because that is where Christ got the most glory. He wanted to see the power of the Holy Spirit work through him, and he knew the best avenues were in the areas he lacked the most. Do you want to see Jesus work in and through your life? If so be prepared for it to happen in the areas you are the least comfortable. Learn to surrender to it now so that you can be an open vessel for Christ to work through.
