John Watt is a proud father. He has three sons that play football in the NFL. His son JJ is one of the best defensive players the NFL has ever seen. John can often bee seen on the sidelines of one of his boys’ games, often playing catch. They are all spitting images of their dad. Did you know Jesus is the exact expression of His Father? The Son’s radiance shows God’s glory to the world.
Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful Word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
Exact Expression
This Scripture is a beautiful description of Jesus Christ. He is the radiance of His Father and the exact expression of His nature. You can hear the pride and joy God has in His Son. Jesus accomplished everything He set out to do, and it pleased His Father. He sustained everything by His powerful Word and made purification for our sins, before sitting at the right hand of HIs Father. He did all out of His love for us.
Purifying Work
Have you been purified of your sins by the atoning work Jesus did on the cross? He has washed us clean of all of our iniquity and imputed His righteousness into our lives. When we go through that purification process, it changes us. We die to our old life and are resurrected into our new one. In the process, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. This purification makes us right in God’s eyes as well.
The Son’s Radiance
Are you being sustained by His powerful Word? After the purification process, we need to be sustained daily. Romans 12:2 calls it having our minds transformed. This is more than just reading the Bible. Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word of God is living and powerful. His Word can encourage, strengthen, and comfort us daily. It’s not just words on a paper but powerful enough to change our lives. Tap into that sustenance.
