As I write this, the Super Bowl in America has just been completed. Over 100 million people watched the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers. As the game ended, the confetti fell, and the trophy was handed to Coach Andy Reid. They received all of the praise for being the world champions. One day we will stand before God, and we will praise Him because He is worthy to receive glory.
Revelation 4:11
“Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.”
A Slice of Heaven
Heaven is going to be an amazing place. This verse gives us a picture of what it will be like. It will be filled with awe and beauty. We will be filled with overflowing love. We will be gathered around the throne of God, worshipping the Lamb who was slain. The Elders will cast their crowns before Him and will cry out Holy, Holy, Holy! Finally, the creator of the earth and everything in it will receive the honor and glory He is due.
Have an Eternal Perspective
It’s easy to forget what is coming. We have a hard enough time trying to get through today, let alone think about how good it will be. As a Christian, we need to have an eternal perspective. Partly because we will get depressed if we focus on the here and now but also because the best is yet to come. Heaven will be the polar opposite of what we part of now. We will be so mesmerized by God’s glory that our hearts will burst forth with praise.
Worthy to Receive Glory
Take some time each day to think of how great God is. Thank Him for all that He has done for you. Tell Him how much it means to you that He sent His only Son to die on the cross so that you could be forgiven of your sins and have eternal life. He is worthy to receive glory for everything in your life. As you cultivate this attitude of gratitude, you will start to get a sense of heaven.
