Revelation 5 Worthy is the Lamb
In this message, we explore what the sealed scroll represents, why John wept in heaven, and what it means that Jesus is described as both the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Lamb who was slain. These are not contradictory images. Together they reveal the full identity of Jesus Christ and why He alone deserves our worship.
We also look at the golden bowls of incense held before the throne and what they mean for your prayer life today. Every prayer you have ever prayed has been heard. Not one has been lost or forgotten.

Revelation 4:5-11 Crowns and Creatures
Revelation 4 is one of the most powerful and misunderstood chapters in ...
Revelation 4 is one of the most powerful and misunderstood chapters in the entire Bible. At first glance, the imagery seems overwhelming. Lightning and thunder around a heavenly throne. Four ...mysterious creatures covered in eyes. Twenty-four elders casting their crowns. But every single detail in this passage is intentional, and together they paint one of the clearest pictures of God's holiness, the reality of coming judgment, and what true biblical worship actually looks like.
This message walks through Revelation 4 verse by verse and unpacks what these symbols mean and why they matter for everyday life. The thunder and lightning around God's throne are not decorative. Throughout Scripture, this imagery signals divine majesty and coming judgment, the same power displayed at Mount Sinai in Exodus 19. For believers, this is a source of hope. For those who do not yet know Jesus, it is a sobering reminder that the season of grace will not last forever.
The seven torches burning before the throne represent the Holy Spirit in His fullness, covering wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, reverence, and deity. The sea of glass, perfectly still in the middle of all this intensity, pictures the peace that belongs to God's people even as judgment approaches the world. It is a visual of the peace Paul describes in Philippians 4, a peace that surpasses all understanding.
The four living creatures, identified in Ezekiel 10 as cherubim, represent all of creation gathered before the throne of God. Their eyes speak to complete awareness and alertness. Their six wings point to a life permanently devoted to worship. And their unceasing declaration, holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, highlights the most defining characteristic of God. Holiness is the only attribute of God repeated three times in all of Scripture. That is not an accident.
When the creatures worship, the twenty-four elders respond by casting their crowns before Jesus and declaring Him worthy of all glory, honor, and power. The Greek word axios, translated as worthy, was the same word Roman crowds used to honor a conquering general returning from battle. The elders use it to declare that Jesus alone has the right to receive everything.
This passage challenges every believer to examine how they approach worship. Worship is not a warm-up or background music. It is the primary calling of every follower of Jesus, modeled by the most powerful beings in all of heaven. Whether on Sunday morning, in the car, or in a quiet moment at home, worship is an opportunity to give God the worth He is due.
Topics covered include the meaning of Revelation 4, the holiness of God, biblical worship, the four living creatures in Revelation, the 24 elders, the sea of glass, the seven spirits of God, the Holy Spirit in Revelation, end times prophecy, the tribulation, God's judgment, and how to worship God in everyday life.
If you have ever wanted to understand Revelation more clearly, or if you are looking for a deeper understanding of what it means to truly worship God, this message is for you.
