A Clean Slate I Daily Walk Devotion

My garage is a disaster this time of year. I have just put the Christmas decorations away, and everything seems to be in disarray on my tool bench on and on the shelves. It will remain that way until the kids go back to school, and I have a day off. Then I will spend the good part of a morning reorganizing and throwing away everything that is no longer essential. I consider trips to the dump therapeutic. When I am done, I will feel like I have a clean slate. I feel the same way when I ask God to forgive me of my sins.

‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

No Strings Attached

Some people struggle with the concept of forgiveness. They can’t grasp why someone would forgive them for no reason at all. In their minds, they think they have to earn it to be truly forgiven. The thought of only having to confess their sins is foreign to them. John tells us that all we have to do is ask God to forgive us of our sins, and he will give us a clean slate, no strings attached and no hoops to jump through.

A Fresh Beginning

Start this new year with a fresh beginning. Get right before God and have all of your unrighteousness removed and forgiven. This does wonders for each and every believer. When we can stand before God with a clean heart and a right mind, it draws us closer to Him. There is no condemnation, and all the guilt and shame are removed. When our sin is forgiven, the wall that separates us from God is torn down.

A Clean Slate

A clean slate gives us a new perspective. The burden of the past is lifted, and we can move forward. God wants to see you progress in your walk with Him this year. What holds us back in our lack of faith and unforgiven sin. When we are free from that, the sky is the limit to what Christ can do in our heart through the Holy Spirit. Do what is necessary for your heart to be in right standing with God.
