A Vision of Things to Come I Daily Walk Devotion

How often do you think of the future? By this, I mean after Jesus comes with the rapture? Do you think of Heaven and what life will be like when that happens? The Apostle John gives us a vision of things to come in chapter four of Revelation. We get a glimpse of Heaven and what it’s going to be like.

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭4:2

“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.”

A Glimpse of Heaven

John was exiled to the island of Patmos, and while he was there, he was given the book of Revelation. There were several times where he was taken into the Spirit. Chapter four shows us where John was taken up into Heaven and given a vision of what was there. Here he sees a throne with God sitting there. Chapters four through five are one of the best pictures of Heaven we get in the Bible.

Run the Good Race

Heaven is the finish line for Christians. While we wait for that come, we fight the good fight and run the good race, but one day that trumpet will sound, and we will look to the clouds and see Jesus coming for those who are His. Does that excite you or give you a little scare? Either way, we need to work towards this day and stay focused on what Christ has told us in His Word.

A Vision of Things to Come

When you have a vision of things to come, it gives you hope for the future. No matter what happens in the present, you know how it will turn out in the end. Don’t let the worries of your day overwhelm you. Satan would love nothing more than to discourage you. Know that “He who in is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” No one can separate you from the love of the Lord. One day all of this will pass away, and we will live in a perfect world.
