Imagine, for a second, a life where you are growing, experiencing new things, and being stretched beyond your limits. That is the life God had in mind when Noah stepped off of the ark. He told him to be fruitful and multiply, to produce children and populate the earth; Growth also comes along with having children. God wants us to be fruitful and multiply. He wanted each house to be full of people who loved one another deeply. Children are seen as a blessing from God in the Bible. Psalms 127 tells us that we should have a quiver full of children.
Genesis 9:7
As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.
Out of the Ark
As Noah came out of the Ark God commanded them to multiply. There were just Noah and his family left on the earth after the flood and the world needed to be populated. Noah reinforced this with his sons, and they responded. It was a fresh start
Be Fruitful
Children are one God’s greatest blessings. Not only do we multiply our family when we have them, but it also brings incredible fruitfulness to our lives. Think about this for just a second. Fruit doesn’t come easy. There is planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting. All of those are incredibly labor intensive. By one seed can hundreds and hundreds of fruit be born. With children, it is the same way. It is incredibly labor intensive, but the fruit that is harvested tops everything else. So many people cut that short by not having kids or by not putting in the hard work to raise them right. There is little to no fruitfulness from that. Be fruitful and multiply and realize one of God’s greatest blessings.
Enjoy the Journey
We don’t just have children to populate the earth. Children are more than carrying on the family name. They are a gift that turns our life right side up. Nothing in this world will stretch you more than raising children. It is that journey where we grow as people. We grow in patience, love, and endurance. Jump in head first and be all in as you walk the path of parenthood. Enjoy the journey.
