Clothe Yourself with Humility I Daily Walk Devotion

It is getting tiresome watching all of the arrogant politicians, actors, and athletes spew their opinions and attitudes on the rest of us. These men and women who have achieved success in one area of their lives are often train wrecks in most other areas. Pride is a cancer that is destroying communities and churches all over the world. The Apostle Peter tells you to clothe yourself with humility.

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:5

“You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”

Difficult Challenge

Peter has to address an issue that needs to be repeated today, submitting to authority. Too many young adults are disrespectful towards the leadership of this country and the church. Young people need to be subject to the elders. That means they purposely place themselves under the church leadership. With so many rebellious people in the church, that is a challenge for young Christians.

Pride Battles Humility

Subjecting yourself to leadership means clothing yourself in humility. When you dress in the morning, you purposely put on the clothes you want to wear that day. With humility, you need to choose to put that on. It doesn’t come naturally. In fact, pride is what is natural to humans. It is something God opposes, and those who go out in pride often stumble because of its arrogance.

Clothe Yourself with Humility

If you choose to clothe yourself with humility, God will shower you with grace. Grace is unmerited favor which means getting something we don’t deserve. We don’t deserve God’s love, but He gives it to us freely. We need forgiveness, and He sent His only Son to take our place on the cross. Choose the path of being humble, and you will find that there will less stumbling in your life.
