One of the difficulties of getting older is that it seems like something is always hurting. Many suffer in silent pain as they struggle to live with daily pain. They would give anything for a little bit of comfort. There are Christians all over the world who are suffering for their faith. They are being attacked from all corners. Jesus promises comfort to those overwhelmed with struggles.
For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.”
One of the major themes of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians is the comfort of Christ. Some in the church have endured some struggles, and it is starting to wear on them. Paul reassures them that Christ will comfort them. While it seemed like the battles were overwhelming them, he lets them know that through Christ, their comfort can overflow as well.
It is pretty reassuring to know that the comfort of Christ can overflow in our lives. To overflow means that He gives us more than we then we need or can handle. Do you need that in your life? It is yours for the asking, but it will only be found in Jesus. You can’t find it in another person or any possession. No amount of money will comfort you like Jesus can. His comfort is all-encompassing. It touches every area of our lives and comes at no cost.
Comfort to Those Overwhelmed with Struggles
We will all go through struggles in our lives. Some of those times will feel overwhelming. The key to enduring isn’t getting out of it but learning how to cast your weight upon Jesus because His burden is light. Next, we need to learn to trust Him in the process. If you feel the water starting to rise around, you cry out to Him and watch as He does His work. Don’t let your circumstances overcome you. Comfort is just a prayer away.
