A double-edged blade is an instrument that is sharpened on both sides of the metal. It is much sharper than most knives because they are only sharpened on one side. A double-edged blade can be more precise in its cuts. God’s Word is sharper than that. Its truth can cut right to the heart and judge the intentions of the heart.

For the Word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

It exposes our sin and convicts us of our actions all in one fail swoop. But Scripture also provides life to those who seek it. It gives clarity to those who are lost and hope to those who are discouraged.
Heed Its Advice
Are you struggling with issues in your life right now? Let the surgical precision of God’s Word do its work on your heart. Listen to its wisdom and heed its advice. Confess your sins when the Spirit convicts you and turn from those areas that cause you to stumble. The Bible can provide guidance in all of these areas and so much more. Don’t walk away from it when it’s message is too tough on you.

Commit to a systematic reading of Scripture on a daily basis. Don’t just dwell in the areas that you like. Institute a plan where you work through all of the books of the Bible in one year. Sit under a pastor that is going to teach you the Bible verse by verse. If there isn’t one close by, then listen to podcasts from Bible teachers that do. When you get God’s Word into your heart, it will do its necessary work.
