Drawing from a Deep Well I Daily Walk Devotion

Have you ever seen a well that was dug for water? When you look down into the hole it goes so deep you can’t see the bottom. When you lower the bucket for water, it seems like it takes forever for it to reach it. Our hearts are often compared to a deep well. When we get to our true feelings, it is like drawing from a deep well.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬

“A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart. An evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”

Inside Out

Our heart stores who we truly are. What people see on the outside is often a reflection of what is on the inside. If we are a good person, then that is what will be found inside. If evil is evident, then that is brewing deep down. Our mouths are what truly show who we are and it speaks from the overflow of our heart.

Facades Crumble

People can concoct facades to try to portray a different image, but eventually, the real person comes out. Facades can’t withstand the stress that happens in everyone’s lives. They crumble, and we are left with the humiliation that comes from being exposed.

Guard Your Heart

We can dictate what our heart will produce. If we want to be a good person who speaks edifying words, then we need to guard what we allow into our heart. If we are regularly exposed to evil that is what our heart will produce. If we have a steady stream of God’s word flowing into our hearts, then that is what will come out.

Draw Deep

Drawing from a deep well of God’s goodness means that we need to be filling our hearts with it on a daily basis. That will, in turn, affect what we say. We may not see it right off the bat, but eventually, we will see the fruit. Guard your heart because eventually what goes in will come out.
