Examine Your Mind

Examine Your Mind I Daily Walk Devotion

Have you ever gone for a check-up with your doctor? They run all kinds of tests and ask tons of questions. One thing they don’t do is examine your mind. Sure they could hook you up to an EEG machine, but that would only tell them how active your brainwaves are. Only one person can examine the mind, God. He looks at your thoughts and decisions and rewards us accordingly.

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9-10

“The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable — who can understand it? I, the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.”

Deceitful Heart

Be careful about trusting your heart. It can deceive you, and no one understands it. One minute it feels one way, and the next, it feels the complete opposite. That’s why Jeremiah tells us it incurable. We put too much trust in our feelings. This can lead us down the wrong path and leave us confused. If our own heart deceives us, then there no one else to trust except for God.

Sowing & Reaping

We need to be aware that God is going to examine your mind and test your heart. He wants to see your thought process and why you are making certain decisions. Then He will test your heart. He wants to know where your loyalties lie. Some people are good at giving lip service to the Lord on Sundays, but their hearts are far from Him. After God is done testing your heart and mind, He is going to give you what your actions deserve. This brings the principle of sowing and reaping to a whole new light.

Examine Your Mind

Put your trust in something that is going to pay a dividend. That means invest in those actions that are going to produce fruit. The only person who produces fruit that is beneficial is the Holy Spirit. Seek Him out. Don’t let your heart be swayed by popular opinion. Let His Word guide your path and illuminate your mind.
