Has someone ever taken credit for something you have done? it was your idea and you put the work in but this person swooped in and received all of the peoples praise. It would be easy to be hurt or even fight back but we need to give credit where credit is du, Jesus. He is the one who gave us the idea and worked through us to accomplish it. Don’t worry about how others act. Be thankful Jesus chose to use you.
1 Corinthians 3:6-7
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Who Deserves the Credit?
There was a fight going on in the Corinthian church over who was the real leader, Paul or Apollos. Paul started the church but Apollos had come and taught there and impressed the people with his speaking skills. Now Paul is trying to temper the arguments by telling them to give credit where credit is due, to God. Too many people try to get the glory for what the Lord has done.
Prevent the Division
So many fights in the church today are over people trying to bring attention to themselves. Someone comes into the church wanting to make a name for themselves, and they do it by showing up the leadership. Next thing you know there is a division in the body, and the work of the Spirit comes to a screeching halt. We need to guard against this and continue to give credit where credit is due.
Be an Empty Vessel
It is important that we remain humble in our work for the Lord. He often works through our weaknesses yet we try to take the credit for it. We are empty vessels that he pours his Holy Spirit into. He then pours it out where he chooses. Instead of listening to the praise of other people when God does something let’s give him glory that he chose to work through us.
