Going Nowhere Fast I Daily Walk Devotion

Going nowhere fast? Working hard and nothing seems to be working out? You may be on the wrong path. Often when it looks like we are spinning our wheels, it is because we are doing the wrong thing. Sit back for a moment and survey your current situation. What is going right and what is going wrong. If something is going wrong stop doing it! Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Haggai 1:6

You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.

Complete Breakdown

The Israelites were going nowhere fast. They had been released from captivity with a mission to rebuild the temple. They got to Jerusalem, experienced a little resistance, and stopped working for twenty years. Twenty years! This isn’t a short break this is complete failure to accomplish what God told them to do. The temple was left in disrepair, and the people turned their focus on their own lives. Unfortunately, they were never able to get ahead. They lived in shacks, and they never had enough, they planted, and the harvest didn’t turn out, they were always hungry, thirsty, and cold with never enough money.

Listen to the Spirit

So many Christians are going nowhere fast. They are busy with their lives but never have enough to get ahead. Things never seem to work out. What may be preventing that bountiful harvest from coming is that they have forsaken what God wants them to do. They know it. It lingers in the back of their mind as they try to push on with life, yet it never entirely works out. If that’s you It’s time to turn to what God is telling you to do and go about it.

Walk in the Will of God

There is no greater joy than walking in the will of God. When we are in sync with the Spirit and he is leading us in the way of the Lord it produces joy and peace. It doesn’t mean that everything is going well or that there isn’t any attack, it means we know we are on a mission and that our heart is full. How do you know God’s will for your life? Fill your heart with his Word and Spirit. As you surrender to scripture you will see your purpose unfold before your eyes.
