Anytime you see a Head of State like a president or prime minister you inevitably see their security detail right behind. What you don’t see is the small army of people working behind the scenes to make sure they are safe. Did you know that you have your own security detail? You are being guarded by God’s power every day.
1 Peter 1:5
“You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Package Deal
If you read the whole section that this verse Peter writes you start to understand all that God does for us. He gives us mercy, hope, and an inheritance that is being kept in heaven. What a package deal! On top of that, he guards you by his power every second of the day. You don’t have to worry about what anyone is going to do to you. Walk in faith and in boldness because you are a child of the almighty God.
Take Up the Shield
The hardest part for us in this is our faith. Interesting that God tells us that our shield, in the armor he gives us, is faith. Ephesians 6 tells us that we are to take up the shield of faith that extinguishes the fiery darts. In laymen terms that means we need to trust God with our lives and hide behind him when the enemy attacks. Faith is utter dependence upon God for all of your needs. When in doubt go to him in prayer and confess your lack of it and he will give it to you.
Stand Firm
Finally, understand that it is in the tests that our salvation is revealed. Peter tells us that we are being guarded by God’s power and that is only known when it is tested. Our true salvation is revealed when we allow God to defend us. If we freak out and retreat that exposes how deep our faith is, but if we stand firm in our faith and withstand the attack of the enemy we will see God guard us in incredible ways.
