How Do We Measure Up I Daily Walk Devotion

HOW WE MEASURE UP

Imagine a living room for just a second. Against one wall you have a couch, against another you may have a television. Maybe in a corner, you have a big chair that fits you perfectly. What makes it even better is that you have a footstool you can prop your feet up on and relax. Can you picture how warm and inviting that living room would be? If that living room is heaven then that footstool is how large Earth is in Heaven. That’s how we measure up in the size of His kingdom. Our God is so much bigger than our world and our problems.

Act 7:48-51

‘Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,  ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest? Did not my hand make all these things? “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit.

NO BUILDING CAN HOLD GOD

I think we forget how big God is. He doesn’t dwell in houses made by hands or in temples made by kings. He inhabits the universe. Don’t let that intimidate you. He is not some distant God who doesn’t care about us. What is miraculous is that He is so big yet knows every intimate detail about us. He calls us to trust him and be rely on His Holy Spirit. The Jews were so stubborn that they rejected God after seeing the incredible miracles in the wilderness and they missed him again when he came in the form of man.

DO YOU LIMIT GOD IN YOUR LIFE?

How big is your God? Is he bigger than your problems? Is he bigger than your dreams? Do you limit him in your life? If heaven is his throne and earth his footstool, then our picture of him needs to be that big as well. He is bigger than everything in our lives. Don’t get too stubborn in demanding your way in your life. He knows what is best for you. Submit to his plan and let his will be done.
