Incline Your Ear I Daily Walk Devotion

If someone is talking to me, I am at the age that I have to lean in to hear them. If the person speaks softly, I will often place my ear close to their mouth. Even then, I still need to ask them to repeat what they said. When Isaiah says to incline your ear, he encourages his listeners to lean in and listen intently to God because he only gets part of our attention most of the time.

Isaiah 55:3,6

“Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live, And I will make an everlasting covenant with you… Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near

Incline Your Ear

What a precious chapter in Isaiah. So many great insights that we can easily apply to our daily walk with Jesus. Look at some of these: “Seek the Lord while he may be found,” “Incline your ear to Him,” and “His ways are higher than ours.” Each day we need to be seeking the Lord, inclining our ear to the His Word, and then trusting Him because His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. We will be led out with peace and joy if we do this.

Depend Upon Jesus

Being a disciple of Christ is about walking with Christ daily. We can’t just input a formula, and it works out. We have to have a dependence upon Jesus Christ. We need to be sensitive to how He is working and where He leads us. That necessitates us inclining our ears and seeking Him for what we need each day. The Lord’s prayer says, “Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.” We see our hearts and minds submitted to Christ for everything. We want His will done here on earth, and we seek Him for our daily provision. Seek the Lord today! Incline your ear to Him.
