Love Lavished Upon Us
The whole theme of 1 John is love. John discusses several different facets of that love, but one thing he wants to make very clear is that God lavishes his love upon us, as his children. He has our best interests in mind as he leads us on the path of righteousness. His love is unchanging and does not give up on us. Find comfort in that love today.
1 John 3:1
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
The Love of a Father
Imagine a father who showers all of his love upon his child. That father gives his full attention to this child and finds the greatest joy in all that they do. The world would say that he is the perfect father. That is what God does to all of his children. He lavishes his love upon us, he gives us his full attention and finds great joy in us.
Find Freedom in God’s Love
You are a child of God if you believe in your heart the Jesus Christ is Lord. Because you have done that God, the Father, lavishes his love on you. To the world that is foreign. They don’t understand the love of God. They don’t know the freedom of forgiveness. They don’t have his joy inside of them. We do! As one of His children, we get all the house privileges. We get to be in on the family business and reap all the rewards. Have you put your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Do it today. Ask Him to be your Lord, forgive all of your sins, and give you a new life. Let Jesus lavish his love upon you.
