When Jesus comes into our lives he puts a new Spirit within us. It takes that heart of stone and transforms it a new heart breathing with life. There is a desire to be obedient to God’s word and to be a part of God’s church.
Ezekiel 11:19-20
“Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.”
He Knows Our Plans
As God spoke through Ezekiel, he was speaking of the future Israel after it came out of captivity. When this was expressed, Israel hadn’t even gone into captivity yet. God is talking about what He is going to do in His people when His judgment was done. It shows us that God is more concerned with our reconciliation than He is with our judgment.
Complete Transformation
God can take the hardest of hearts and make it new again. He can put a new spirit in us and radically change us. That takes us humbling ourselves and coming to him like a child. For most of us, that means complete brokenness. The great thing is that God is there when we do come to Him and He is ready to change us. Look at the scripture again. Look at all that God will do for those who return to Him. He will change our heart, put a new spirit in us, he will take away all the pain, hurt, bitterness, and anger, and he will give us a new heart. What does he ask of us? That we will come to Him and allow Him to be our God. Surrender to Him today and watch him renew your life.
