When we are finally in heaven, we will see Jesus seated at the right hand of His Father. All the glory will be given to Him because of the death He died. His atoning work on the cross was the one sacrifice all of us needed to be restored to a right relationship with God. The chasm that was impossible to cross was bridged by the cross Jesus died on. One day every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
Hebrews 10:12
“but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,”
One Sacrifice
Jesus sits at the right hand of His Father because He accomplished what no one else could, being the perfect sacrifice for our sins. This sacrifice appeased the wrath of a holy God. For that, our sins can be forgiven, our relationship with God restored, and our eternity secured. It took ONE sacrifice to accomplish this, and that was God sending His only Son to do it. (John 3:16).
Enough for Eternity
No more animals need to be sacrificed, and we are no longer sentenced to death for our sins. We don’t put Jesus on the cross every time we sin because His sacrificial act was enough for eternity. If we are one of God’s children, there is no more condemnation, and all the guilt and shame have been taken away. Walk in that freedom.
A Place of Power
Jesus now sits at the right hand of God. That place is one of honor and authority. The King’s right hand was always a symbol of power. If he raised it, people lived. If he brought it down, people died. To be at the right hand meant that you were the most trusted person in the kingdom. Jesus sits there because He has earned all the power and glory because of His act of obedience. He lived a sinless life, which made Him a lamb without blemish and worthy to take our place.
