One Way I Daily Walk Devotion

One way streets can benefit old cities where there is not enough room for a street where cars can go both ways. It can also be limiting for those trying to get across town in a short amount of time. Jesus made it clear that there is only one way to heaven, through Him. That’s a problem for some people.

‭‭John‬ ‭14:6

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

A Big House

Jesus has just told the disciples that His Father’s house is a mansion and that He is going there to prepare a place for them. He is going to leave for a while but will return for them. Doubting Thomas asked Jesus how they would know the way, to which Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” The road map is a person, not a path. Jesus was very clear that if you wanted to spend eternity with God, His Father, you would have to put your faith in HIm.

Expressing Doubt

Now we could give Thomas the benefit of the doubt and say he was so excited about heaven that he wanted to make sure he didn’t get lost on the way. In reality, he was expressing doubt out of his uncertainty. How will we know the way? That is why Jesus is clear and to the point. There is one way to eternal life, and that is through Jesus. All roads don’t lead to heaven. Some people have issues with that because they think God is love and He wouldn’t exclude people from heaven, but Jesus leaves no shadow of a doubt not everyone is going to get in.

One Way

There is an assurance knowing that Jesus is the only way. When you put your faith in Him and follow His Word, you know you are on the path to heaven. Nothing can remove you from that path or separate you from His love. If you have put your faith in Him, keep moving forward, and one day He will come back for you.
