Every Christian needs to know the power of his presence. It does more than just guide us, it works in us to refresh and renew us. When the Holy Spirit comes upon us we are surrounded by God’s love. It is as if our eyes get larger for the things of God and our hearts expand.
Revelation 15:8
“The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.”
Seek His Presence
The power of his presence is mighty. It will fill the temple and no one will be able to enter during the Tribulation. This is a glimpse of the power of God’s presence. There multiple times in the Bible where the presence of God entered a place and people were unable to stand. (Think priests of Solomon’s temple in 1 Chron 6 and upper room in Acts 2) We need to seek His presence and power in our lives. This comes through the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Be Filled
Ephesians 5:18 tells us to be filled with the Spirit. The word filled in the Greek means to be continually filled or constantly be filling yourself with the Holy Spirit. D.L. Moody said he needs to be filled continually “because he leaks.” Practicing the presence of God doesn’t happen with some spiritual formula, it happens when we seek his face on a daily basis through his word and prayer.
Be Refreshed
Start right now. Go to God in prayer and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Tell God how dry you are and how much you need the fresh rain of his Spirit to fall on you. Repent of any sins that need to be confessed. Most importantly ask God to revive your heart and restore your love for him. Doing this on a regular basis will change you. Don’t procrastinate any longer. Do it today.
