Remain in the Light I Daily Walk Devotion

The other morning I was woken up by two dogs barking at 4 am. The way they were barking made it seem there was some problem. Sure enough, I walked out on to my front porch, and the dogs had a drunk man cornered on our street. He was stumbling around, and they were protecting their turf. He wasn’t fast or stable enough to outrun them, so the barking went on for ten minutes. Finally, he was able to get away, but what was he doing stumbling around at that time and where were the owners of the dogs. This goes to show you that nothing beneficial happens at that time. Remain in the light.

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:5

For you are all children of light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness.

Avoid the Darkness

There is a distinct difference made in Scriptures about the light and darkness. 1 John 1 tells us that God is in the light and those who follow him walk in the light. The light is where God dwells, and it is the place that all of should seek. If we don’t walk in the light, we lie to ourselves and start on a downward spiral.

Grow in the Light

The light is the righteousness of God. When we obey His Word and seek after His Heart, we immerse ourselves in the Light. There are so many benefits to remaining in the light. We don’t stumble as much because we see where we are going. We also grow because the light brings life, just like a sunflower that tracks the sun. When we act like we are following Jesus but secretly we chase after those things in the darkness, we devise ourselves. Deception is a lie that cloaked in the truth.

Remain in the Light

Those in the darkness hate the light. It exposes the reality that they are trying to avoid and the vices that we crave. Whenever a person who walks in the light encounters someone in the darkness, there is a spiritual battle going on that often isn’t seen. This is why friends and family tend to act so weird around us when we are near them. The light of Christ is shining from us, and it is illuminating their darkness. This threatens their comfort zone, and they would rather be somewhere else. Remain in the light.
