rescued from empty life lg daily walk devotion

You’ve been rescued from an empty life. When Christ saved you from your sin and an eternity in hell, you were rescued, but that is just the beginning. He doesn’t leave you alone here on earth till it’s time to go to heaven. He gives you a new life full of His Spirit. That begins a process of filling you with everything you need to live for today. He develops gifts in you that are to be used to build others up. He produces growth in your soul that produces fruit. We are opened to a whole new life when we are rescued by Jesus.

1 Peter 1:18-19

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

Rescued

One of our biggest fears is to live an empty life, one without meaning. Many people live aimless lives, wandering from thing to thing trying to figure out life and find meaning. Do you know that has been handed down to us by our ancestors? It has nothing to do with purpose or meaning but is the fallout from the original sin. Sin removes God from the center of our heart and replaces it with our desires. Once that happens we lose purpose and meaning. When we’ve been rescued from our empty life, he replaces it with an abundant life full of love, joy, and peace. To be redeemed means to have the price or debt paid by someone for us. Jesus redeemed us by paying the debt of sin we cannot pay.

Transformed

You were bought for a price that silver and gold could not afford and redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. We are more valuable to Him than anything in this world. He who knew no sin became sin for us so that we might live a full life. If you’re wandering or feeling lost, allow the redeeming work of the cross to change you. Invite Jesus into your life and watch Him begin to work. Start by asking for forgiveness of your sins. Then ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power.
