Have you ever woken up from a good nights sleep and felt refreshed? Almost instantly you feel more energetic and alert; you might even have a song in your heart because you feel so good. We can be refreshed like that in our walk with Jesus. Sometimes we need to go through seasons of refreshing in our faith.
Acts 3:19-20
“Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.”

Peter is preaching from Solomon’s Porch in the temple area. The lame man was just healed, and people are crowding around to figure out what is going on. In typical Peter fashion, he gets right to the point. He tells the people to repent so that their sins could be forgiven. That may sound harsh, but he is getting at something. He wants seasons of refreshing to come to these people.
Do a U-Turn
Seasons of refreshing only come from the presence of the Lord and the absence of sin. If we hold on to our pet sins and try to live for the Lord, we will always feel drained. Repent means to stop and go in the other direction, so it is more than just asking for forgiveness. Ask God to shine his light on your soul to reveal areas that you need to repent.
Come Alive
We should all want to be refreshed spiritually. When that happens, there is something that changes in our soul. We feel more alive, the weight of the world doesn’t seem so heavy, and the things of the Spirit are more apparent. Our heart also grows in a desire to serve. Refreshment produces gratefulness that needs to be expressed through using our gifts to glorify God and further His Kingdom. Ask God today to bring that refreshment upon you.
