The Christian lives the victorious life. You have victory in your life because your sins are forgiven, Christ’s righteousness has been deposited in you, and eternal life is secured. Those are assured of every believer who puts their faith in Jesus. Sadly, many Christians don’t live in that victory but in doubt and discouragement. Jesus wants us to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. You are sent with power from on high.
Luke 24:49
“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Wait For It
As Jesus spent His last remaining moments with the Disciples, He gave them instructions for after He left. After Jesus ascended, they were to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came, and then they would be sent with power from on high. This was something Jesus had promised to them previously. They would only be able to accomplish what God had in store if they had this power.
God wants you to go operate in His gifting and with this power. Unfortunately, people have treated this power like a magic wand. They think it is something they can use for their purposes and their own glory. God works through someone to bring healing, and suddenly they have an international healing ministry. That’s not how it works, nor is God long-suffering with those who operate this way.
Sent with Power from On High
Your job is to be an open vessel so that God can use you. You are sent with power from on high into a world that is full of people who are lost and hurting. That power is to minister to them by preaching the Gospel and showing the love of Jesus Christ. When you are in alignment with these purposes, you will experience the most potent joy and satisfaction.
