Stuck in the Mud I Daily Walk Devotion

Have you ever got your car stuck in the mud? No matter what you do nothing lodges you free from it. The harder you try, the deeper you get stuck. It’s not until someone comes and pulls you out that you can get free. We can also get stuck in the spiritual mud. Everything we try does nothing to get us out of the rut. It’s when we give up and cry out to Jesus will we be set free. David chose to praise God when he got stuck in the mud.

Psalms 69:30-33

I will praise God’s name with song and exalt him with thanksgiving. That will please the Lord more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. The humble will see it and rejoice. You who seek God, take heart! For the Lord listens to the needy and does not despise his own who are prisoners.”

Choose to Worship

Don’t you love how David responds to everything that happens to him with worship? “I will praise God’s name with song and exalt him with thanksgiving.” Worship is more pleasing that sacrifice. Martha learned this lesson when she complained about her sister Mary. We can be encouraged today if we seek the Lord because he listens. It doesn’t matter if you are too needy or you are bound by the chains of addiction. Cry out to him today, and he will hear you.

Choose How You React

We can not control what happens to us, but we can control how we react. David is pouring his heart out to God over those who are attacking him. It’s so bad he feels he is up to his neck in mud, unable to move. His response is to worship the Lord. God knows the situation. He is more interested in David’s reaction than any sacrifice he could offer.

He is Listening

Do your problems ever make you feel up to your neck in mud? Are you losing hope because you don’t see a way out? How are you responding? Are you complaining or are you worshipping? God knows your problems, and he sees your needs and hears your cries. Choose to praise him today despite your circumstances. Exalt him with thanksgiving. When you God will listen, and he will respond.
