I watched a TV show the other day of a guy who remodeled a hundred-year-old lighthouse. It had been in disrepair for decades, but he bought it at auction and poured a lot of money to restore it to its glory days. When he was done it was fully functional again. The light that was given off by that lighthouse is capable of saving hundreds of ships and thousands of lives. The light inside of you is stronger than that lighthouse. The light of Christ in you can save lives for eternity.
John 1:4-5
“In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.”
Overcoming Darkness
Before Christ came, the world was overcome by the darkness of sin and evil. The prince of darkness, Satan ruled it. Once Jesus came darkness could not withstand the light of Christ, and that light became the life that is within us. When we start to follow Jesus that light comes inside of us and darkness, no longer has a stranglehold on us.
Light Your Path
Is the light of Christ shining brightly in your life? Does it shine on the path that you are walking? Psalms tells us that His Word is a light unto our path and a lamp unto our feet. The light of Christ illuminates the darkness and prevents us from tripping. It also gives us a sense of safety as we continue on our journey to heaven when there is light the fear of darkness fads away.
The Light Inside of You
Jesus gives us life. It is unlike anything else the world has to offer. It not only provides us with a sense of purpose, but it permeates every area of our life. We no longer have to fear anything that is thrown at us because it cannot overcome us. Let that light shine out of you. Others are wandering around in the darkness, searching. When the light of Christ shines out of you, it draws them in.
I really enjoy your devotionals daily. I do wish, however, that whoever the typist is would not depend on the “spell check” on the computer. In today’s post there are two mistakes in spelling and often “he, him, his, son, Christ,” etc. are NOT capitalized. Any mention of Jesus Christ, God, God Almighty in any way should be in capitals, whether a reference to his name or deity. Spell check is a mechanical tool that does not recognize who Jesus Christ, God, or God the Father is, therefore, corrections are made without knowledge and the typist needs to be aware of avoiding insulting our God in any way. Please, take the time to correct these errors manually, and read the text carefully before hitting the “send” button, simply because you’re talking about my Savior and ALL respect for his varies names and references should be correct to honor who He is! Thanks
Lee,
Thank you for your support and concern for these devotionals. I will try to improve my spelling and have made a concerted effort to capitalize He and Him since you contacted me last time.
I don’t always rely on spell check for proofing and I review each devotional the Sunday night before they post. (I write these usually a week in advance). Bear in mind though that I write over 12,000 words a week between these devotionals and my messages for the church. When you review that much material there are things that are going to gloss over in your eyes. I will redouble my efforts and I appreciate the accountability.
God bless you
