Many times I have stood in front of couples with stars in their eyes as they recite their vows to their future spouse. The day is filled with celebration and expectation of what is yet to come. A commitment is made that day to love the other person above all others till death do you part.
Hebrews 13:4
“Marriage is to be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.”
Till Death Do You Part
Marriage is the most sacred of unions in God’s eyes. He takes it seriously, and he expects those who enter into it to do the same. Infidelity wrecks more homes and families than almost anything. One, or both, of the spouses, have not honored the marriage bed and chose to sleep with another. The pain that is caused through that lasts a lifetime.
God Will Judge
God will judge those who are sexually immoral. This is more than just adulterers. It includes those who look at pornography or involve themselves in deviant behavior. There is nothing a person can do to get away from it. One day everyone will stand before God and give an account of their actions. The sexually immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Protect What’s Yours
There is a way to protect and preserve the marriage bed. It starts with honor. You have to love your wife or husband above everyone else. You can’t fawn over a movie star or athlete and expect your spouse to measure up. You can’t make comments about the opposite sex sexually and think that it won’t affect your spouse. You have to honor them with your words and with your actions. Show your love for them by lifting them up. Build your trust with them by keeping your word. Encourage and compliment them on a daily basis. This will preserve the special bond that God has built between you till death do you part.
