Some people won’t believe anything unless they see it with their own eyes. It is as if their judgment is final and it’s not true unless they say it is. I understand there is a lot of fake stuff out there, but some people will never be convinced unless they see it. The disciples had heard from multiple people about Jesus’ resurrection but they still didn’t believe. It was too good to be true.
Luke 24:39
Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.
Too Good to Be True
Even after multiple accounts of people saying they saw the resurrected Christ the disciples wouldn’t believe. Also when Jesus showed them his hands and feet, it says they still didn’t believe, but they were full of joy. It was too good to be true. They thought their eyes were lying to them.
Flesh and Blood
Jesus was there in the flesh, and the other Gospel accounts say that he appeared to them even though they were tightly locked into the upper room. He tells them to touch him and even asks for some food because he was hungry. This wasn’t a ghost sighting he was indeed alive.
Out of Nowhere
The disciples were beside themselves. Up to that point, they had been mourning the death of their savior and friend. Hearing about sightings of Jesus and seeing the empty tomb only caused more confusion and fear. It was honestly too good to be true and then all of a sudden he appears out of nowhere.
Can He Love Me?
Some people think everything that Jesus offers is too good to be true. “Does he really forgives our sins? He doesn’t know the things I’ve done.” “Can he love someone like me?” The answer to these questions and all the rest is a resounding “YES!” Everything he has said is true and so much more. Take him up in his offer today and follow him.
