Who Can You Bless Today?
We are much better people when we choose to serve and bless others. Each morning we should start our day by asking “Who can I bless today?” It takes our focus off of ourselves and places it squarely on the other person. We need to look for those who we can bless today. It will add richness and flavor to our daily lives.
Philippians 2:3-4
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
Early Church Anthem
Philippians 2 is one of the most powerful chapters in Scripture. Some have called it a hymn that was sung by the early church, and I can see why. What it lays out for the believer is so important. It starts in one of the most vital areas of our lives, our attitude. We shouldn’t be doing anything to bring attention to ourselves but in lowliness put others before us. We should have the same attitude as Christ, humble, a servant who seeks the interests of those around us.
Look For Opportunities
This is so challenging because we have our to-do list and so many pressing things that compete for our attention. This is why it starts with attitude first. You see if we start with our focus on others and not ourselves it makes it much easier to defeat our pride and ambition and walk humbly. A declaration we can start each day with is “Lord, use me to bless others today.” Then ask for a heart that is sensitive to the needs of others. By doing that you open the gates for God to use you.
