The greatest role of any Christian is to be a wise and faithful servant. A wise and faithful servant is one who reads God’s words and takes his instruction and leading from it. They also make it a daily occurrence. Laziness and complacency aren’t found in them because they are busy with the work set before them. They don’t slack when the owner is gone. Wise and faithful servants set their mind on the work before them.
Matthew 24:45-46
“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.”
Spiritually Ready
Jesus had a great way of taking spiritual topics and relating them to everyday life so that simple people could understand. He uses the servant as an example of being spiritually ready. The wise servant goes about his work whether the master is home or away. The foolish servant is one who is always looking to cut corners. The Master here is Jesus, and his return is to rule the world. God values those who are faithful. He looks for those who use wisdom in their daily walk. Those are both signs of someone who is submitted to the will of God and living it on a daily basis.
Are You Ready?
Jesus is coming back. Are you the wise or foolish servant? Is your household ready for His return or is it in disrepair? The wise and faithful servant goes about his business and doesn’t waste time with foolish things. He doesn’t stop working to hang out with the drunkards. She doesn’t let the distractions and dramas overtake what’s important. Be about the fathers business and set your mind on things above. Strive to be a wise and faithful servant.
