Sometimes it seems like the wicked of this world get away with everything while the righteous struggle. That may be true for a while, but eventually, the wicked person’s deeds are exposed. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Continue following Jesus, being obedient to His Word. He knows the way of the righteous.
Psalms 1:6
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Stand in Judgment
The most honored place in a Jewish village was to stand in judgment as one of the leaders at the city gate. It showed you had reached maturity and had shown integrity over your life. David says the ‘wicked’ man will not stand in that place or be in the congregation because they have been blown away like chaff. There was nothing of substance in the person, and their decisions took them away from any honor. It would shame the person as well as their family.
Nothing is Hidden
Jesus says in Luke 9 that your sins will find you out. There is nothing hidden that won’t be exposed. You might be able to hide it for a while, but eventually, it will come out. The “wicked” person is one who has tried to cover up their sin and then, when it was exposed, didn’t repent of it. Jesus knows that all of us are going to sin. What separates the righteous from the wicked is how they deal with it. The righteous person is like David, who cries out, “Search me Lord.”
The Way of the Righteous
The Lord knows the way of the righteous. The wicked person may get things over on other people and get accolades for what they do. The righteous person may toil every day without anyone noticing the good that they do, but God sees their deeds. Seek the approval of God over man and watch as He elevates you to a position of honor.
