After two and a half years of dealing with the pandemic, the results are starting to surface. The effects of government restrictions and education requirements are starting to take their toll. A study showed that students in elementary school didn’t want to take their masks off because they felt too ugly. That is horrible! These students are going to carry this with them for years. The number of mental health disorders, prescriptions for mood-altering drugs, and attempted suicides are mind-boggling! The church needs to tackle this, and thankfully, we have the cure for anxiety.
Philippians 4:6-7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
The Cure for Anxiety
God’s Word gives us anxieties cure. It’s simple really. Cast all your cares on the Lord through prayer and continue with life. Life’s worries pile up. There is always some drama that is trying to steal our joy. If Satan can get us to start being anxious about something we can’t control, he knows it will paralyze us from doing what we can. Get rid of your anxiety today.
Prayer is the Answer
Don’t be anxious. I know that is easier said than done, but anxiety doesn’t get us anywhere. God has a plan for humanity and eternity, and he is working it for His good. How do we overcome anxiety? Prayer. Prayer is what releases that anxiety to God. When we go to God and lift up our needs, it is like lifting the world’s weight off our shoulders. We can go to Him with anything on our minds and release it.
Be Thankful
There is another aspect of prayer that we need to implement, thankfulness. Being thankful to God for all that he has done resets our perspective. It reminds us of all that He has already done. In fact, one of the best things we can do when we feel anxiety creeping in is to spend time thanking God. When we are casting our burdens on Him and telling Him how thankful we are, there is a peace that settles in our hearts. Try it today. See if God doesn’t truly take the weight off of your shoulders.
