Four Gifts For Every Believer Daily Walk Devotion

Four Gifts for every believer. The tradition of giving and receiving gifts originated with the Wise Men bringing Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh to Jesus, but you could say that the original gift was Jesus himself. John 3:16 tells us that God gave his only Son. Did you also know that when Jesus came, he gave four gifts to those who followed him? Isaiah prophesied about this over seven hundred years before Christ was born.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This passage shows us four gifts for every believer. Jesus brought four gifts that are given to everyone who puts their faith in him. He gives us wonderfully wise counsel, strength for each day, eternal faithfulness, and peace that passes all understanding. Most Christians don’t realize all that is given to us and what we can tap into on a daily basis. Let’s look at each four:

Wonderful Counsel

Jesus is the one who able to guide our lives. He should be the one we seek counsel from when we need to make difficult decisions. He can help you with your problems. He may choose to work through the words of another Christian to do it, but it remains his wisdom. Isaiah 28:29 says “This also comes from the Lord of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.”

Strength for Each Day

Isaiah tells us that he is an almighty God. That means he has all the strength and power necessary to complete his plans. We can tap into that strength. We are told where we are weak he is strong. The daily walk of a believer is strengthened not by our might but by his power. Find your strength in Christ today.

Faithfulness

Jesus will also be our everlasting father. This is a wonderful combination of two principles. First Jesus is the father, or beginning. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He was there in the beginning, and he will be there until the end. He is in charge of all eternity. For us, that means he will never leave us nor forsake us. If everyone was to desert us and we were to lose everything (think Job) Jesus would still be with there with us. He remains faithful to us even when we aren’t faithful to him. The everlasting father is there for you every day.

Peace that makes us whole

The final gift that Christ brings us is peace that makes us whole. Eph 2:14 says “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” Jesus is everything we need. We don’t have to look for peace anywhere else because he gives us peace that passes all understanding. Receive all four of these gifts today.
