Life can be best described as a journey. Along that road, you will encounter several obstacles and challenges. There will be the high waters where you are overwhelmed with life. There will also be times of intense testing where God will take you through the fire. All of these challenges are meant to increase your trust and dependence on God.
Isaiah 43:2,11,18-19
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” “I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.” “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Tough Times Ahead
Isaiah is prophesying that Israel is about to go through some tough times. They will come under seize from Babylon and eventually fall to them and taken into captivity. For seventy years they will exist under the harsh rule of several kings. Isaiah likens it to both water and fire. It will be times of intense testing, but God will bring them through it. He will make a way through the fire and do a new work in his people.
A New Work
God truly does protect and preserve. He continually does a new work in the hearts of those who follow him. What is holding you up? Is it feelings of being betrayed and no justice? Is it remorse for bad decisions and the consequences? Whatever is holding you back let it go and move forward. He will take you thru the water and the fire. Meditate on his word, serve others, seek his face. In this, you will find the way.
